Woodrise Slovenia, Technical conferences and tours – September 05 to 09, 2022
Woodrise 2022 “Technical Conferences and Tours” in Slovenia follows on from the 3rd Woodrise Congress held in Kyoto in October 2021 and Tokyo in May 2022.
The session from September 05 to 09, 2022 was organized around two days of technical conferences and keynotes in Portorož, followed by two days of technical tours in Slovenia, Italy, Germany and Austria.
The French delegation comprised 8 participants from a variety of backgrounds (architects, researchers, professors and companies). The aim of this report is to present the various actions carried out during the mission.
On Monday 05/09, the French participants were welcomed at GG Bled’s head office by Technical Director Ales Kadunc. He presented GG Bled and the Slovenian forestry-wood industry.
Borut Pahor, President of the Republic of Slovenia, opened Woodrise 2022 in Portorož. He stressed the importance of Woodrise in showcasing global best practice in wood engineering and architecture, with the aim of promoting sustainable transformation and development in the construction sector.
The speech was followed by a networking cocktail overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
On Tuesday 6/09 the program was a series of workshops on R&D projects, keynotes and the gala dinner.
The heart of Woodrise Slovenia is based on exchanges on the subjects of renovation, restoration and sustainability of buildings in Europe and around the world.
On Wednesday 7/09 was dedicated to keynotes, followed by multiple technical sessions at the end of the day. In the Europa Hall, 8 speakers from Germany, Portugal, Japan, Sweden, Slovenia and the USA presented their papers.
Interclustering session: Apolline Oswald (Xylofutur), with the support of Ana Merchan (Interco Nouvelle-Aquitaine), organized an interclustering session to bring together different European clusters over a convivial meal. 24 people from 9 different countries were able to introduce themselves and exchange ideas to create new encounters. It was an opportunity to promote future collaborations, projects, new ideas and possible missions. The session took place in a restaurant close to the conference venue from 7.30pm to 10pm. Participants signed a sign-in sheet, which was then e-mailed to them (appendix 8).
On Thursday 8/09– Technical visits in Italy: The organizers of Woodrise 2022 in Slovenia offered two days of technical visits, with two options: one-day visits or two-day visits. The one-day visits were to Slovenia, and for the two-day visits several destinations were proposed: Italy, Germany and Austria.
Ana Merchan (Interco Nouvelle-Aquitaine) took part in the Italy Tour with two visits to XLAM Dolomiti and Rotho Blaas with 11 participants from : Canada, France, Slovenia, USA and Poland.
