The Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region has financed the Project of Training of Ex-combatants in Eco-guides between the Regional Natural Park of the Landes de Gascogne (PNRLG) and the different Colombian partners (Government of Nariño, ARN, UN Mission, SENA, OCOTEA, UDENAR) in order to contribute to the peace process in the country. The goal of this project is the reintegration of ex-combatants and indigenous people into society through the profession of eco-guide, taking into account the biodiversity of their territory and more specifically the different species of birds.
The objective of this first mission in Colombia (Pasto, Nariño) was to initiate ten trainees members of the Resguardo Indigène Mayasquer, during training modules supervised by two agents of the Regional Natural Park of the Landes de Gascogne (PNRLG): Jérôme Fouert-Pouret and Angel Martinez to the profession of eco-guide.
The detailed program of this week of training was varied: daily observation of birds, workshops, activities of identification of the profiles of eco-guides, the final elaboration of three tourist offers on the concerned territory.
Field visits were made to the surroundings of La Cocha Lagoon: La Corota Island, Quilizinga Waterfall, Motilón Village and El Encano Port. The mission closed the phase 1 of the project which was a success for all the partners of the project and the trainees who showed great interest and motivation.
Phase 2 of the project will take place in April 2020 with the visit of 5 trainees in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, more particularly with the visit of the Regional Natural Park of the Landes de Gascogne (PNRLG) and the Ecomuseum of Marquèze. The objective of this mission was to observe the daily work of the park’s agents and to exchange their know-how.
