FOREXPO, Forestry and Wood Industry Tradeshow
As part of the FOREXPO 2025 trade show, a program of technical visits was offered to international professionals. The aim was to use these technical visits to explore in greater depth the main themes specific to the French forestry and timber industry, and more specifically in the Landes de Gascogne forest.
The entire production chain was covered during the visits, from upstream (varietal selection, forest management, research projects, etc.) to downstream (wood processing in sawmills and factories, and cork processing for various uses). The two species mainly discussed during the visits were maritime pine and cork oak, with the aim of providing a comprehensive overview of the two main forestry sectors in the area.
The delegations also attended the FOREXPO trade show itself, in order to have a privileged opportunity to exchange ideas with the major players in the sector in France, and to attend/participate in an international conference.
This week-long tour offers real added value for international professionals, as it provides an overview of the forestry and timber sector in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and gives them the keys to investing safely and confidently.
In total, the event brought together 32 participants representing 9 countries.
The group took part in 9 technical visits organized before and during the tradeshow on the following topics: research, maritime pine genetics, private and public forest management, maritime pine silviculture, certification, cork oak, and the maritime pine and cork oak processing industry.
